Yes, it's about time. We're both on the flip side of 45 and we've done our time in the relationship trenches. As you read our story, you'll come to find out that we've known each other for about 27 years. We come to each other with years of difficulties and hardships behind us. We've both weathered some pretty serious storms in our lives: major illnesses, divorce, financial hardships, unemployment, etc. I've struggled as a single mother and Li is in her 21st year of sobriety (no easy feat when you carry some of the heavy burdens she's had to shoulder).
Now we come to each other drama-free (that's new to me!) and ready to share a solid life enriched by our shared values, interests, spiritual goals, and general love of life. We plan to grow old together and end our days in the shade of our porch, holding hands across the small expanse that separates our rocking chairs as we watch the pelicans fly low across the waves that pound the North Carolina shores.
